ABOUT

Peter Hitchen Architects is an experienced and creative RIBA Chartered practice working throughout the Ribble Valley and North West. Engaged in a wide variety of projects, large and small, private and commercial, we are creative, pragmatic and approachable.

Based in Whalley we have a wide range of experience in Lancashire and further afield. We regularly undertake work on both homes and commercial projects, including New Builds, Extensions, Commercial Premises, Home Improvements, Change of Use, Conservation and Masterplanning.​

Our services encompass the whole construction process from feasibility through to completion. We offer a full or partial service catering to our client’s specific needs, budget and project size. This flexible approach ensures every project receives the right level of expertise and support at each stage.

Peter Hitchen

DIRECTOR

ARCHITECT​​

Peter is a Chartered Architect with over 25 years of experience in multidisciplinary practices in Birmingham and Preston, contributing to a wide range of commercial and residential projects across both private and public sectors. As Director of Peter Hitchen Architects Ltd, he now focuses on locally based work in and around the Ribble Valley, combining technical expertise with an appreciation for local character to create designs that respond sensitively to their settings.

 

His practice reflects his vibrant, collaborative approach, delivering successful outcomes through creativity, attention to detail, and strong client relationships. Approachable and inclusive, Peter values being available at every project stage. Outside of work, he enjoys tennis and exploring the local countryside - pastimes that mirror his appreciation for balance, fresh air, and the landscapes that inspire his architectural work.

Dominic Hall

ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT​​

Since graduating with a degree in Architectural Engineering in 2021, Dominic has become a valued member of the Peter Hitchen Architects team, contributing to projects ranging from supported living estates and home extensions to permitted-development schemes. With a strong technical foundation and an eye for detail, he enjoys exploring how thoughtful design can enhance comfort, accessibility, and a sense of belonging, creating spaces that are functional and personal.

 

Dominic takes a hands-on approach throughout the design and construction process, developing drawings, 3D visualisations, and detailed plans that bring concepts to life. His curiosity and willingness to learn make him an asset to every project. Outside work, he stays active at the climbing gym and experiments with pottery - hobbies that reflect his appreciation for craft, precision, and creating meaningful, tangible work.

Logan Murray

PART I​

ARCHITECTURAL

ASSISTANT

Logan joined Peter Hitchen Architects as a Part I Architectural Assistant after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a BSc in Architecture. Since then, she has contributed to a variety of projects, from new builds to innovative home extensions Where she has gained experience in design development, planning, and technical detailing. With a strong interest in early design stages, she particularly enjoys concept development, where ideas take shape through light, space, and materiality. Her artistic background supports her ability to visualise and communicate concepts with clarity and imagination.

 

Passionate about creating responsive and meaningful designs, Logan approaches every brief with enthusiasm and careful attention to detail, ensuring each project reflects users’ needs and its wider context. Outside of work, she enjoys sketching, painting, digital design, and spending time with her Pomeranian, Marcus, interests that bring joy and creativity to both her life and her architectural work.

Oliver Stephenson-Jones

APPRENTICE

ARCHITECTURAL 

TECHNICIAN 

Oliver began his journey with Peter Hitchen Architects as a work experience student in 2023 while studying a Design, Planning and Surveying T-Level at Burnley College. Since then, he has gained experience across a variety of projects, learning how designs develop from initial concepts to real-world construction. In September 2025, he progressed to a Design and Construction Management degree apprenticeship at the University of Central Lancashire, combining academic study with practical experience at the practice. His favourite part of the process is visiting sites and seeing ideas on paper evolve into tangible spaces.

Bringing enthusiasm and curiosity to every project, Oliver enjoys being involved at each stage, from assisting with drawings to observing work on site. Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym and watching football, balancing his development with sport and fitness. His passion for construction and design, paired with his hands-on approach, makes him a motivated and valuable member of the team.

Bella

FLOOR MANAGER

Bella is an essential member of the Peter Hitchen Architects team, taking her role as Floor Manager very seriously, ensuring everyone is greeted with a wagging tail and that no lunch break goes unnoticed. Known for her calm yet watchful presence, Bella is always on hand to boost morale, supervise meetings, and provide much-needed encouragement during busy project deadlines. Her ability to bring smiles to the office and maintain team spirit is second to none.

​

When she’s not overseeing the studio, Bella enjoys long walks, naps in sunny spots, and the occasional treat from her colleagues. Her friendly nature and unwavering commitment to workplace happiness make her an irreplaceable part of the team.
